Samsung has launched Gear S2 and Gear VR in India

Recently Samsung has launched the Gear S2 smartwatch in India. Both standard as well as the classic edition will be available for purchase in India starting today via retail channels, and Flipkart will be the exclusive online retail partner.

Along with the Gear S2, Samsung also launched the Gear VR headset, as was rumored earlier. The Gear VR headset carries a price tag of Rs. 8,200 (approximately $120), and like the smartwatch, will be sold through Samsung’s physical retail channels and online retailer Flipkart.

The Gear S2 has a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED displays with 360 x 360 pixels resolution. It has a 1GHz dual-core processors, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, an accelerometer, heart rate monitor, ambient light and barometer. For fitness enthusiasts, the Gear S2 smartwatches offer tracking daily activity like water and caffeine intake, measuring your pulse, steps, calories and more. Both the regular and classic edition Gear S2 are powered by 250mAh batteries, and support wireless charging. They are compatible with Samsung devices running Android 4.3 or above, and with non-Samsung devices running Android 4.4 or above, and having at least 1.5GB of RAM. The Gear S2 regular edition comes with a silicone band, while the Classic edition gets a more premium black finish and a matching genuine leather strap.

On the price part, the Gear S2 carries a tag of Rs 24,300 (approximately $360), while the classic edition will set you back INR 25,800 (around $380). The South Korean company also confirmed that Gear S2 users in country will also be able to access dial faces with Indian themes.

In addition to the Galaxy Note5, S6 edge+, S6, and S6 edge, the Gear VR headset also supports the dual SIM Galaxy Note5, which was recently launched in India at a price tag of Rs. 57,400.
